IPL Photofacial
Intense Pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a non-invasive treatment to improve the texture and color of your skin without surgery. Also known as a photofacial it can undo visible damage caused by sun exposure. Photoaging signs may appear on your face, neck, hands or chest.
How it works:
“Photofacials (IPL)” uses light energy to convert heat to target cells below the skins surface without damage being caused to the top layers of the skin. Short blasts of high-intensity light is used to penetrate just below the skins surface, destroying broken capillaries (small, dilated non functional veins medically known as telangiectasia rosacea), breaking up the melanin that makes up brown age spots, and improve overall skin appearance. IPL is also an effective treatment to boost collagen and elastin production.
Treatment Areas:
IPL (Photofacial) is commonly used to treat face, hands, chest, neck and legs. Other areas may be treated based off of a consultation with our technician.
For the Face:
• Removal of sunspots and hyperpigmentation
• Improves appearance of broken capillaries and rosacea
• Overall skin glow and refreshed appearance
• Stimulates growth of new elastin and collagen
• Improves skin texture
• Reduces fine Lines and Wrinkles
• Improves the appearance of Acne
For the Body:
• Reduces sun damage that may be found on hands, shoulders, neck, chest, legs and arms
• Improves the appearance of scars
What to expect after Treatment:
The Advantage of IPL is its minimal downtime. In most cases you may return to work and regular activities immediately after treatment. Aftercare recommendations will be provided by our technician
How many IPL treatments will I need?
We typically recommend 1-3 treatments to see sufficient results. Additional sessions may be recommended by our technician depending on desired results and the skins starting point. A consultation can be performed prior to treatment to determine how many sessions would be needed.
What can I expect to feel during my IPL treatment?
Patients can expect to feel mild stinging during the treatment or a brief ‘pinch like’ sensation. Gel is often used to help cool and calm the area to promote comfort during the treatment. Pain medication or Anesthetic is typically not required.
When will I see results?
Changes in the skin can happen anywhere between 1-3 weeks. During this time darkened spots can begin to fade and flake off. Skin texture may begin to improve and complexion will begin to even out
