Chelation therapy is a medical procedure that involves the administration of chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body. Heavy metal toxicity is becoming more prevalent in our society and people are experiencing physical symptoms as a result. Cognitive decline as well as deterioration in mental and physical health are being reported as a result of a burdened system. Chelation therapy was developed to restore normal bodily functions by removing the presence of these heavy metals in the blood.
Chelation therapy is a safe and effective treatment to restore optimal health in cases of heavy metal toxicity. Chelation therapy is used as a treatment for metals including acute mercury, iron, arsenic, lead, uranium, plutonium and other forms of toxic metal poisoning. The chelating agent may be administered intravenously, intramuscularly, or orally, depending on the agent and the type of heavy metal being targeted. Each chelating agent will have their own physical characteristics and biological mechanism of action. Several chelating agents are available, having different affinities for different metals that are being detoxed from the body.
Chelation therapy is extremely safe when administered by trained professionals. In conjunction with a proper diet, healthy lifestyle techniques and natural supplements, patients can achieve optimal health.
Most commonly known for heavy metal detox, Chelation therapy also has various other health benefits. It is an alternative therapy used in cancer treatments, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, peripheral vascular disease, autism, ALS and multiple sclerosis.
